Qatar Red Cresent to build hospital in Yemen

Doha, July 1, 2013

Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has reached an agreement with the Yemeni government to to build and operate a hitech medical centre in the Alhota/Lahj province, said a report.

The QRC signed two agreements of co-operation and partnership with the Ministry of Health and Population in Yemen and the Yemeni charity Medical Association for setting up the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani Centre for dialysis, reported the Gulf Times.

The new medical centre, which will come up on a 1,000 sq m area at Ibn Khaldun hospital in Lahj province, will be run by QRC for five years.

The project will play a major role in saving many lives as a large number of Yemenis suffering from kidney failure still have to travel to Aden for treatment, the report added.
