Germany plans biggest stand at Airport Show

Dubai, March 13, 2012

The German Pavilion at the upcoming Airport Show 2012 in Dubai will be 420 sq m, bigger than the previous three editions held in 2009, 2010 and 2011, said the event organisers.

A record number of 25 German companies will share the pavilion, said Mohamad Bader-Eddin, show director, Reed Exhibitions Middle East.

“The German companies enjoy good reputation in the Middle East region due to their introduction of innovative products and new technologies, thereby providing the airports technical excellence, reliability and economic efficiency.

“This year’s show will provide immense opportunity for them to network with the local authorities and explore new business prospects,” he added.

The German companies participating in the show include manufacturers and suppliers of airport lights for runways, taxiways, robot systems for baggage handling, engineering and supply of airport equipment, manufacturer of specialist vehicles for the aviation industry, removal of rubber and markings, passenger movement vehicles, IT supply (readers, scanners), baggage handling equipment and systems, ground support equipment, conveying equipment, MRO supply, ground support equipment and tooling, Air Traffic Control and aircraft refuellers.

Dieter A Heinz, president of German Airport Technology and Equipment (GATE), the German umbrella association for quality airport suppliers and one of the supporters of airport show 2012, said the aviation sector of the UAE states offers tremendous growth opportunities for the global aviation industry at a time when it was grappling with uncertainties and challenges.

Trade ties between Germany states are strong and expected to grow steadily thanks to the mutual co-operation and engagement between the governments and private sectors in these countries.

Trade volumes between the GCC and Germany have more than doubled over the last decade, according to figures released by the Arab German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In 2010 trade between the two was worth €16.98 billion, placing the GCC among the leading export markets for German products. In 2010, Germany was Saudi Arabia's third largest trading partner with exports to the kingdom totaling €5.7 billion, up by 17.9 per cent from 2009.

The UAE was the largest buyer of German products in the Arab world, importing 7.5 billion euros ($9.8 billion) worth of goods, making Germany its fourth largest trading partner. More than 750 German companies are actively operating in the UAE.

The show, to be held from May 22 to 24 at Dubai International Exhibition and Conference Centre, provides unrivalled combinations of high-quality networking and business development opportunities all at one venue, a statement said.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, chairman of Dubai Airports and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group, the Airport Show is also supported by leading international industry associations and local government authorities. – TradeArabia News Service
