Bahrain minister inspects sports city project

A high-level team from Bahrain Ministry of Works and General Organization for Youth and Sports (GOYS) toured the Sheikh Khalifa Sports City in Manama and monitored its progress.
‘Shaikh Khalifa Sports City Project is part of GOY’s plan to develop the sports sector in the Kingdom and meet the youth’s and athletes’ needs through improving sports infrastructure and improving sports facilities in the country,’ said Minister of Works Essam Bin Abdulla Khalaf.
Accompanied by GOYS president Hisham Mohammed Al Jowder, Khalaf inspected the project and closely examined the phases that have been implemented till now.
‘The Ministry of Works, in collaboration with GOYS, is also keen to support and implement such projects based on internationally recognized technical measures and standards, which is in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030,’ he added.
Al Jowder commended the efforts and support extended by the Ministry of Works to make the project a success and thus serve the sports sector in the Kingdom.
'The phase 2 of the project includes the removal of couch grass, leveling works to the field and planting of synthetic grass for soccer instead, in addition to the installment of a new 5x10 LCD clock, and lighting works with HD technique; to be installed under the supervision of the leading company in lighting (musco).'
A new international 8 level track will also be constructed, under the supervision of Bolitan, in addition to installing 50 high-tech equipment related to timing and other sports purposes,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
