CHEC wins $880m New Doha Port project

China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), a leading international contractor, said it has clinched a $880 million port foundation and breakwater construction project in Qatar' New Doha Port.

According to CHEC, the project includes construction of a container wharf, general cargo wharf, naval forces wharf, and breakwater.

'As for structural type, the wharf is a gravity type block wharf. The waterline of the wharf is 7,845m long and 6,500m3 of earth and stone will be excavated,' CHEC said in a statement.

Construction of the project will exert far reaching effect on long-term development of CHEC in Qatar and even the Middle East region, it added.

A subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company, CHEC has 31 overseas branches and offices with business activities covering more than 70 countries and areas.

The company is currently employing over 6,000 domestic and international staff to undertake $9.5 billion worth of projects.-TradeArabia News Service
