Tall buildings focus of Doha council meet
Doha, May 31, 2010
Tall buildings and sustainable urban environments will be the highlight of a meeting of a Doha council dedicated to urban construction.
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) will hold its first meeting today (May 31) in Doha at the Qipco Tornado Tower to provide a platform for professionals in construction industries to share knowledge and ideas with views to creating a better built environment in the region.
The Tornado Tower was named the best tall building in the Middle East and Africa in 2009 by CTBUH.
“As professionals who directly affect the urban habitat, we have a responsibility to provide an aesthetically pleasing yet functional building not only to our clients, but to the people who will be using the spaces that we provide,” said Kerry Galbraith, event organiser.
“We are continually striving to build better, taller and bigger buildings, utilizing advanced technologies.”
“With the CTBUH meetings we hope that those attending will walk away energized with new ideas to meet the challenges that they face every day,” Galbraith added.
CTBUH, an international not-for-profit organisation, it has become the defacto global governing body for determining which building is the tallest in the world, since its founding in 1969.
Future meetings will be held on a quarterly basis, focusing on various projects within the building and construction industries, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
