GAM starts $2.93m pavement works

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) said it has begun pavement works at Sweifiyeh and the Al Shaab & Said Kheir Streets which is estimated to cost JD 2.09 million ($2.93 million).
The GAM has initiated implementing a tender of applying layers of asphalt mix using basalt marbles, said a top official.
Road Maintenance Department director Ahmad Khreisat, said the municipality will resume pavement works on 40,000 sq m as per a tender at commercial center in Al Sweifiyeh, which includes the streets namely Princess Taghreed, Salah Seheimat, Abdel Rahim Al Haj, Said Al Mufti, Tareq Al Jundi, Subhi Al Omari, Isehaq Al ‘Athmat, and Jacob M’amer.
According to him, the GAM will initiate the works of the same tender in Al Shaab and Said Kheir Streets in Dabouq followed by the Medical City, upon finalizing its operation in Al Sweifiyeh.
Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, previously announced GAM’s three tenders which were requested to restore and maintain the main streets of Amman using the basalt marbles instead of the lime stone.
Maani pointed out that the three tenders were expected to be finalized by the end of summer in the main streets of the capital. The work will be carried out as per the scientific methods and with specific criteria, namely its constructive status, and the number of cars commuting on these streets, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
