GAM road construction work on track
Amman, May 17, 2010
The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has announced that 55 per cent of the work on the 220,000 sq m main road network within Abdoun Corridor project has been completed.
The main road network represents a link between different GAM regions and will contribute to reducing the traffic jam in the interior streets of Amman city, operating as parallel streets to serve the traffic movement, said a top official.
Nabeel Jreiri, director of the Execution Department at Gam, said the roads network project was on schedule and will be finalised simultaneously with the completion of Crown Prince Hussein Ibn Abdullah II’s square on the Airport Road.
Jreiri also pointed out that work at majority of projects such as Al Hikmah intersection with Ajnadeen Street at Al Qweismeh region, was moving at a fast pace as per the instructions of Amman mayor Omar Maani.
He said that renovation of the Al Hikmah intersection with a space area of 10,000 sq m was currently underway.
'GAM is also working on expanding a full lane along the road extending from Marj Al Hamam towards the industrial zone in Wadi Al Seer, renovating Aal Al Beit Street in Badr Al Jadidah region, which is scheduled in phases, as it is the main entrance for the regions: Badr Al Jadidah, Dabouq, and the surrounding suburbs,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
