New construction trade show to open
Abu Dhabi, April 15, 2010
A new international trade show for the construction industry is set to open in Abu Dhabi and run alongside Cityscape Abu Dhabi, the international real estate investment and development sector event.
The inaugural CityBuild Abu Dhabi will open on April 18 to run until April 21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre bringing together industry suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, architects, engineers, importers and procurement decision makers.
“The co-location of the shows will allow for crossovers between events, such as investors who can source new opportunities at Cityscape while developers, consultants and architects can source new products and services and contractors at CityBuild,” said Graham Wood, group director of CityBuild organisers IIR Middle East, also organisers of Cityscape Abu Dhabi.
As part of the construction summit at CityBuild Abu Dhabi, speakers will address the practical challenges of developing strategies for surviving the construction downturn, as well as maximising competitiveness, utilising alternative funding models and delivering projects.
Among the topics will be cash flow and cost management strategies; updates on new tenders for 2010-11 in transport, social infrastructure, residential and leisure sectors; the new procurement criteria of key clients post credit crunch; designing sustainable buildings using sustainable construction methods; and investing in workforce skills development.
CityBuild Abu Dhabi will also launch the 2010 CityBuild Awards for Excellence in Construction to recognise significant contributions to the global progress in key areas of construction. – TradeArabia News Service
