Abu Dhabi workers city infrastructure ready
Abu Dhabi, November 10, 2009
The Abu Dhabi Municipality is set to complete Dh651 million ($177 million) worth of infrastructure work of a massive residential city for workers in Al Mafraq area of Abu Dhabi by next month.
The project, part of the ADM's strategy to find comprehensive solutions to urban development problems, is located between Al Ain-Abu Dhabi highway and Abu Dhabi-Al Ain truck road.
The massive city boasts 1,962 parking spaces and modern infrastructure facilities.
A private company is developing the residential buildings for the workers. Once construction of the accommodation for the workers is completed, private companies can rent the space for their workers, a municipality spokesperson was quoted as saying in the Gulf News.
'Our responsibility is only building the infrastructure for the city, located 35 km away from Abu Dhabi city and five km from Al Mafraq Bridge,' he noted.
A 45-km road as part of a project building road networks in the city, was opened for traffic in August 2009, the spokesperson said, adding the project includes construction of roads, lighting and other essential facilities which started in October last year.
