Expo 'a good experience' for Kirby
Manama, January 15, 2009
Kirby Building Systems, one of the leaders in pre-engineered steel buildings in the region, has termed its participation at this year’s Gulf Industry Fair in Bahrain as a good experience.
The three-day exhibition, being held in Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, closes today (January 15).
“We have had a good number of visitors at our stand and have been successful in establishing good contacts,” said K Vasudev, regional sales manager - Bahrain and Oman.
“Through our participation in the show, we have been able to reach a lot of potential customers whom we would not have met otherwise,” he said. “Also we have re-established contacts with our old customers here,” Vasudev added.
Kirby is a group company of Alghanim Industries, a multi-billion-dollar business conglomerate based in Kuwait.
Kirby operates through its five manufacturing units and 70 sales offices located in six geographical regions of GCC, rest of the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Eastern Europe, CIS and South East Asia.
Kirby is executing many prestigious pre-engineered steel building projects in Bahrain including the Enma’a Mall being developed by Enma House, near East Riffa and the multiple industrial workshop projects in Bahrain Industrial Investment Park.
“The mall is one of the best architecturally designed malls in Bahrain. It will have a contemporary modern design, whilst its exterior will uniquely reflect modern-living in Bahrain,” he said.
The mall, designed by Arif Sadiq Consultants, is being constructed by Almoayyed Contracting.
”The building will have special curved fascia cladded with aluminum decorative panels. The steel members to achieve the curved architectural features will be manufactured and supplied from our new curved beam facility at Ras Al Khaimah,” said Vasudev.
Another major project that Kirby Building System has delivered in Bahrain is the Baytik Industrial Oasis in Bahrain Industrial Investment Park (BIIP), being constructed by Poullaides Construction. The project, a first of its kind in Bahrain, has 24 light industrial state-of-art workshops with a combined area of around 50,000 sq m.
Kirby, which has about 50 per cent market share in Bahrain, is hopeful of a good year ahead despite the global economic crisis. “The market has definitely shrunk. However, the impact in Bahrain is much less than it is in Dubai,” said Vasudev. –TradeArabia News Service
