Ma’an Development Company (MDC) has signed an agreement with Ready Mix Concrete and Construction Supplies Company (RMCCS) to establish a JD2 million ($2.8 million) ready mix, brick and interlock tile factory at Ma'an in South Jordan.

The factory will be built over an area of 13,500 sq m at the Ma’an Development Area (MDA) industrial park and is expected to be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2009.

The pioneer MDC move is aimed at expanding its investment portfolio and further bringing development into the country's south.

Raja Al-Alami, general manager of RMCCS and Mohammed Turk, chief executive officer of MDC, signed the agreement.

The MDC aims to create additional job opportunities within the community, further contributing to the economic development of Ma’an.

As it will also serve the requirements and meet the needs of the construction sector in the Ma’an Development Area, the governate of Ma’an, and the South of Jordan in general, said Mohammed Turk.

“MDC is honoured to have RMCCS as part of the investment family within its development project. We are confident that the industrial park will benefit from the added value and expertise that RMCCS will bring in and we are looking forward into the creation of additional job opportunities through this venture,” he added.

Ready Mix Concrete & Construction Supplies Company is the first public shareholding company in Jordan engaged in the production and sale of construction materials such as cement, ready mix concrete, concrete blocks, curbstones, interlocking tiles and limestone.

Established in Amman in 1995, RMCCS is the first company to supply concrete that surpasses 175 meters high in Jordan.

The company is also involved in construction projects, as well as import and export of materials, machines and equipments necessary for its activities, Al- Alami said.

“With our qualified staff, up-to-date technical equipment, and our specialized laboratories for quality inspections, we will be utilizing all our efforts in having one of the best Ready Mix, brick and interlock tile factory in the region which will contribute in raising the economic activities in the South of Jordan,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
