Amwaj Island launches new marina

Manama, November 11, 2008

Amwaj Islands has launched Amwaj Marina, its latest multi-million dinar development, which will be the water front entrance to Amwaj accomodations and attractions.

The circular 60,000 sq m marina is located on the western seafront of Amwaj Islands and will be operational from today, said a top official.

“This development is considered to be one of the most important developments within Amwaj Islands. It will be the seafront entrance to Amwaj Islands and another unique attraction in itself,' said Martin Kay, CEO of Amwaj Islands.

'It will have the capacity to rent out 145 berths and will be able to host up to four super yachts in deepwater berths. It aims to offer the highest marina standards in the region.'

'Boat owners will be able to moor in the marina and spend the day taking in a variety of other attractions located within a short distance of the marina, including the theme park, the retail centre, hotels, the beaches and Amwaj Beach Club - taken together, some of the finest recreation facilities in Bahrain!,' he noted.

'Amwaj Marina will be the destination marina for boat owners across Bahrain because of its efficient and convenient services designed to provide a smooth, trouble-free marina experience,' he added.

Peter Jennings, marina manager of Amwaj Islands, said the facility will also boast of a host of entertainment services for the whole family including water sports, sailing lessons, beach club facilities, and in due course it will feature cafés, and swimming facilities.

'Amwaj Marina is a five star facility that upholds the highest marina standards in the region with advanced security systems, the latest equipment, and efficient services.'

'Additionally, the marina will host boating activities and lessons through the Sail Laser Academy, and in the future, it will offer a variety of water sports including windsurfing, kayaking and pedalo,' he pointed out.

'We are excited to be launching the 60,000 square meter marina after almost two years of planning and development to make way not only for a world class marina, but a marina that will serve as the waterway to Amwaj Islands, providing boat owners with access to attractions and residential communities by way of the sea,' Kay observed.

'This will make for a unique experience, not only for the residents of Amwaj, but also for visitors to the Islands,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
