Palm starts marina berth online bidding
Dubai, November 2, 2008
Island Global Yachting (IGY), the luxury marina developer and management company, has opened its dedicated online auction for residents and owners of Palm Jumeirah offering the opportunity to enter into a berthing agreement at Anchor Marina.
The marina will be officially launched in the coming months as Palm Jumeirah’s first operational marina.
The online auction site, www.igyauctions.com, which opened on October 15 for pre-qualifying registrations, has over the last two weeks received response from more than 900 visitors.
Residents and owners of Palm Jumeirah were invited to register their interest in advance, to enable them to place their bids when the auction site went live on November 1.
'The auction, live for seven days, will start closing at 18:00 on Friday (November 7). Interested parties still have enough time to register and place their bids,' an IGY official said.
Owners and residents will be limited to one berth per property and berthing agreements will be for a five-year period.
The berths available for auction will be located on both the East and West side of Anchor Marina for yachts between 10–16m in length, inclusively, said Michael Horrigan, CEO Middle East and Europe, IGY.
'We have already received an outstanding response to the online auction with hundreds of visitors to the website.'
'We decided to launch via the online platform to simplify the process of bidding on and entering into a berthing agreement. We are extremely excited that we have reached this stage as it signifies how close we are to Anchor Marina launching as Palm Jumeirah’s first fully operational marina,' he noted.
'It is a truly unique marina in its positioning and design and one that will propel Dubai onto the global stage as a yachting destination of choice,' Horrigan observed.
'Located on the iconic landmark Palm Jumeirah, which is instantly recognisable around the world, we have worked hard to deliver what we believe is a marina that will complement its fabulous surroundings,' he added.
Anchor Marina, delivered in partnership with Nakheel, represents one of IGY’s most prestigious projects.
The marina’s 590 berths will provide private yachts, between 10-30m in length, modern infrastructural elements such as spacious concrete pontoons in conjunction with some of the most modern technology available to boat owners, including LED illumination, underwater lighting, wireless internet connections and bespoke concierge services.
To reflect the prestige that is associated with Palm Jumeirah, great care has been taken to ensure that the structure and quality of service experienced at Anchor Marina will position it as one of the world’s most well-appointed marinas, he said.
It will offer guests the choice of two clubhouses; one located on Anchor Marina East and the other on Anchor Marina West.
The East Clubhouse will be designed for families whilst the West Clubhouse will have a sophisticated atmosphere with fine dining restaurants, Horrigan added.-TradeArabia News Service
