Carrier Corp, a business unit of United Technologies Corp, has introduced its latest innovative chiller range — the Aquaforce 30XA -- in Bahrain.

The Aquaforce chiller with screw compressors uses non-ozone depleting refrigerant HFC 134a that prevents further deterioration of the Earth’s ozone layer.

In tests, Aquaforce achieved record part-load seasonal energy efficiencies `IPLV’ of 0.76 kW/ton (4.6 kW/kW) on average, said a statement.

“The wave of construction activity in Bahrain coupled with rising energy costs has steadily increased demand for more energy efficient air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions,” said Ali El Zein, general manager of Carrier Middle East Limited.

“Carrier’s new Aquaforce chiller suitably addresses our customers’ need for energy-efficient and environmentally sound cooling systems. The large chiller range is particularly well-suited to the industrial and commercial air-conditioning sector in Bahrain, where the demand for energy is high and they could reap significant benefits.”

Ali El Zein said the launch of Aquaforce 30XA is part of Carrier’s plan to advance the air-conditioning sector in Bahrain. The Aquaforce 30XA includes a unique microchannel heat exchanger which enables it to operate with up to 30 per cent less refrigerant.

Elaborating further, Pierre Crevat, marketing manager for Carrier Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Aquaforce 30XA is remarkably well suited to the region’s extreme climatic conditions. Its introduction in other GCC countries last year met with phenomenal response from end users, consultants and contractors. In addition to its superior energy saving features, the Aquaforce 30XA chiller offers greater durability and low noise.”

Crevat added: “The unique micro-channel coil technology has been widely used in the automotive industry for many years, but this is the first time it has been applied in large chillers. Shown to increase heat transfer efficiency, the all-aluminum, brazed construction coils provide enhanced reliability through improved corrosion resistance.”

The Aquaforce 30XA range of chillers with screw compressors is available in 20 sizes with capacities ranging from 75 tons to 475 tons (270 kW to 1.7 MW), offering customers the widest range of high efficiency air-cooled chillers.
