Amana bags $9m Dubai Metro project

Dubai, July 18, 2008

Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings has been awarded a $9 million project to be constructed by SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors for the Tabreed Cooling Plant  at Dubai Metro’s Project at Al Rigga in Dubai.

The Dh33.4 million building is expected to be completed by April 2009. The project is spread across over 800 sq m of land.

SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors is a part of SNC-Lavalin Group, a leading engineering and construction company and a key player in facilities and operations management.

Mohammed Al-Qarout, general manager at Amana Special Projects, said the civil architecture building for Dubai Metro Plant in Dubai was a prestigious project for the company.

"The cooling plant has two levels in the basement due to height restrictions in the area. Moreover, it is a very challenging project for Amana considering that Al Rigga is a very congested area and most of the construction will be carried out at night."

The project win reiterates Amana’s capabilities to execute time-sensitive projects within budget and with world-class quality materials, he observed.

"It is imperative for us to meet the highest standards of safety and quality requirements of SNC-Lavalin Gulf Contractors. In view of this, the time frame of the project is very crucial and the goal can be achieved only through stringent planning of the construction schedule," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
