Oman's Galfar wins $131m deals

Galfar Engineering & Contracting Company, Oman's largest contractor by market value, said on Sunday it has won two deals at a total cost of RO50.46 million ($131.1 million).

The Public Authority for Electricity & Water has awarded Galfar a water reservoir and transmission project at a cost of RO32.99 million, the firm said in a statement on the bourse website.

The Royal Court Affairs has awarded Galfar a construction project in the port city of Sohar at a cost of RO17.47 million, it added.

Galfar said it expects 'reasonable income' from both projects. The company's shares closed on Sunday at 2.28 rials, up 1.33 per cent. They have rallied more than 50 per cent this year, outperforming the Muscat benchmark, which is up more than 29 percent.-Reuters
