Alfanar clinches $267m construction contracts

Alfanar Construction Company, a leading engineering, procurement and construction firm, has clinched contracts worth more than SR1 billion ($267 million) for the construction of new power plants and substations across Saudi Arabia.
The Riyadh-based company has been awarded the project of Sharourah Power Plant extension by the Saudi Electricity Company.
The extension work involves the engineering, designing, procuring, supplying and delivering of all equipment and materials to the work site besides constructing, installing, testing and commissioning the power plant, said a company official.
The lump sum contract valued at SR360 million ($96 million) is scheduled to be completed in 23 months.
In yet another milestone, Alfanar has been awarded the SR500 million ($134 million) project for the construction of the new Kandarah 380/110/13.8kV substation in Jeddah city by the SEC.
The substation, on completion, will supply power to the Central areas and the downtown of Jeddah city and enhance the power capability in those areas.
Earlier this year, Alfanar had announced the signing of a new contract worth SR505.71 million ($135 million) with the Saudi Electric Company (SEC-WOA) for the execution of the project titled ‘Construction of the 380kV substation works associated with the integration of Rabigh 2 Power Plant.-TradeArabia News Service
