Nakheel, one of the world’s largest real estate developers, today signed a Dh1 billion ($272 million) infrastructure contract with Khansaheb Civil Engineering to develop the first phase of its Al Furjan residential community.

When complete, Phase One of Al Furjan will accommodate over 2,000 villas and terrace homes, offering a range of commercial and residential apartments and mixed use plots with supportive retail centres. The development is designed for the family with open spaces integrated into the master plan to provide areas for children to play and families to interact.

Mohammed Rashed Bin Dhabeah, director, Al Furjan, said: “The award of this one billion dirham infrastructure contract is a significant milestone in Al Furjan’s development. Al Furjan, meaning ‘a collection of houses or a small village’, comprises four communities which will be defined by their individual neighbourhood centre.  These neighbourhood centres and other amenities, such as schools, are situated within easy walking distance of homes. Boasting more than 4,000 elegant homes complemented by an abundance of open spaces and a multitude of amenities, Al Furjan is a new model for community living.
