Multiforms wins $40m Boulevard Plaza contract

Dubai, October 2, 2007

Multiforms, an architectural façade specialist company and subsidiary of Emaar Industries & Investments, has won the contract for the cladding work of Boulevard Plaza, a commercial twin tower development within Emaar’s Downtown Burj Dubai.

The project, worth over Dh150 million ($40.8 millon), involves the completion of 60,000 sq m of exterior cladding to Boulevard Plaza’s impressive architecture. Boulevard Plaza, due for completion in the fourth quarter of 2009, will add significant commercial space to the Downtown Burj Dubai community and form a spectacular and iconic addition to  Dubai’s skyline.

“This is an exciting time as we grow our business into key and international projects, further developing Multiforms’ company profile. Undertaking the cladding work for Boulevard Plaza with glass metal and stone skin forms one of our most challenging jobs yet,” said Firas Rifai, CEO, Multiforms. “We are proud to be working with prestigious engineers and property developers to achieve excellent results and bring innovation to commercial property space within one of Dubai’s best community locations.”

Boulevard Plaza is Multiforms’ fourth project within the Downtown Burj Dubai development; cladding implementation is in process for parts of The Old Town development. The construction and infrastructural elements of the Boulevard Plaza project is being managed by Samsung Corporation.

“We are pleased Multiforms is on board for the Boulevard Plaza project. The innovative façade of the Boulevard Plaza buildings will include with a ‘unitized curtain wall system’ façade, giving it an incredibly original aesthetic value. It is the first time we are working with Multiforms and we are confident that the Boulevard Plaza towers’ end result will appear as inspiring as its plans intended,” said Y J Byun, senior project manager Samsung Corporation.

The towers will have luxury interiors and modern amenities including fully-controllable air-conditioning, fire-alarm and fire-fighting systems and hi-speed Internet access. More than 2,100 parking spaces in nine floors will address parking issues and there will be pedestrian links to the Dubai Metro.

Boulevard Plaza will be built on the elegant architectural mix that surrounds Burj Dubai Boulevard, a 3.5 km, 73-metre circular thoroughfare with restaurants, retail outlets and fashion stores. The towers are inspired by the veils and layers of traditional Islamic architecture and will be a spectacular structure clad in glass, metal and stone skin. As they rise, the towers bend inward to form two deep-shadowed arches offering sweeping views of Downtown Burj Dubai.  –TradeArabia News Service
