Dubai stocks in demand

Foreign investors have increased their transactions on the Dubai bourse.
Dubai Financial Market said the value of shares bought by foreign investors, or non-UAE nationals, during the 4th week of May 2007, reached Dh4 billion, comprising 30.1 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the period.
The value of stocks sold by foreign investors during the same period reached Dh3.5 billion, comprising 26.5 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the period. Net foreign investment on the market reached Dh473 million during the same period.
The value of stocks bought by institutional investors during the fourth week of May 2007, reached Dh2.7 billion, comprising 20.8 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the period.
The value of stocks sold by institutional investors during the period reached Dh2.1 billion, which constitutes 16.3 per cent of the total value of stocks traded during the period. Net institutional investment on the market reached Dh594 million during the period.
Dubai Financial Market was established as a public institution having its own independent corporate body.
DFM is operating as a secondary market for trading of securities issued by public shareholding companies, bonds issued by the Federal Government or any of the Local Governments and public institutions in the country, units of investment funds and any other financial instruments, local or foreign, which are accepted by the Market.
