WorldRemit expands service across Gulf

LONDON, November 30, 2017

WorldRemit, a leading digital remittance service, has launched money transfers to Oman, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait.

WorldRemit customers living and working around the world will now be able to transfer money to these destinations as easily as sending an instant message, using the WorldRemit app or website to over 450 new cash pickup locations.

WorldRemit launched money transfer operations to the region with the United Arabs Emirates in 2013, and has grown rapidly since then. Along with these new country launches, WorldRemit is expanding its service in the UAE with the addition of 534 new cash pickup locations.

WorldRemit’s mobile-first, digital model allows money transfers to be sent without the inconvenience of going to a bricks and mortar agent. Funds are available within minutes at cash pay-out locations in the destination country.

Andrew Stewart, WorldRemit’s regional director for Africa and the Middle East, said: “We are pleased to expand our highly-rated money transfer service across the Gulf States. Customers will benefit from our quick, secure service which has the advantage of being fully digital, saving time and money when sending funds home.”

In June, WorldRemit announced a global integration with Google’s Android Pay, followed by a partnership with Huawei’s mobile money platform across Africa. Recently, WorldRemit also announced a global partnership with Arsenal FC, becoming the club’s first official Online Money Transfer Partner. WorldRemit customers now complete over 750,000 transfers every month from 50 send countries to over 148 receiving destinations. – TradeArabia News Service
