Gulf Finance Corporation names new chairman

SAUDI ARABIA, December 15, 2015

Saudi-based Gulf Finance Corporation (GFC) has appointed Thamer A. Jan as the new chairman of the board of directors.

Launched in 2012, GFC provides Shariah-compliant lease and instalment facilities to small businesses in the kingdom.

Jan currently serves as a member of the board at ENBD Capital – Saudi Arabia, and is also a member of the board at Delta Company, which has operations in the Kingdom.

He was general manager of commercial banking in The Saudi British Bank (SABB) until 2013. Prior to that, he was the regional general manager, Western Province, at Saudi Hollandi Bank for three years.

On his new role, he said: “I am honoured to join Gulf Finance Saudi Arabia as chairman during this exciting period in the company’s development. The company has seen solid year-on-year growth since its launch three years ago, and has recently successfully secured financing to continue expansion of its operations.”

The SME sector, he stated, is a crucial part of the Saudi economy and is likely to become even more significant going forward.  “As one of the few companies focused purely on provision of Shariah-compliant asset finance, we also aspire to become one of the key players in the development of this sector by providing unique solutions catering to the SME business segment,” he added. -TradeArabia News Service
