Islamic banking summit “a huge success”
BAHRAIN, December 9, 2015
The World Islamic Banking Conference which recently concluded in Bahrain was a resounding success, having attracted 1,300 high-level industry attendees from over 50 countries.
Held under the theme New Realities, New Opportunities, the conference discussed the role of technology in delivering financial services – as a bridge towards greater financial inclusion of the 72 per cent of Muslims around the world who do not have access to financial services.
Khaleeji Commercial Bank (KHCB), one of the leading Islamic retail banks in Bahrain, participated as a silver sponsor, and was represented by Khalil Ismaeel Al Meer, CEO, and other executives.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Al Meer said: “Sponsoring an event, such as WIBC, which is supported by the Central Bank of Bahrain and other Islamic financial institutions working in the Islamic banking industry, demonstrates our enthusiasm to take part in gatherings which represent an important opening for the people in the industry to broaden their perspectives on how to help their institutions achieve further growth.”
“Our participants were able to benefit immensely through the many workshops, presentations and speeches conducted by the pioneers of the industry. The Roundtable session gave an insight into other emerging Islamic finance markets from around the world, which shows the global scale of the event,” he added. -TradeArabia News Service
