Bahrain cbank to launch directory of women in finance
MANAMA, July 27, 2015
A who’s who of Bahraini women in the financial and banking sector will be published by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), it was announced yesterday (July 26).
The directory will feature an extensive history as well as illustrated photographs of the many talented Bahraini women who, over the past 50 years, have helped make and keep Bahrain a leading regional financial centre, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
In an effort to ensure the book is comprehensive, the CBB invites all individuals and institutions in Bahrain to send biographies, success stories, high resolution photographs with captions and any other relevant information on Bahraini women in the financial and banking industry to wifb@finmarkcoms.com by the end of August.
“The book will be a unique archive of the role of women in the development and growth of Bahrain’s financial services sector,” CBB executive director for corporate services Dr Huda Al Maskati said.
“We are delighted to announce this initiative and look forward to working with all industry players – past and present – to collect and share important information, stories and memorabilia.
“The book will not only mark the outstanding contributions of women over the past few decades but will also serve as a reference and inspiration for the young generation of women planning careers in banking and finance,” she added.
The Who’s Who project is being developed as part of Bahraini Women’s Day celebrations for the year 2015 under the theme “Women in the Financial and Banking Sector”.
This year-long campaign of events, is being held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and Supreme Council for Women President.
It also includes a series of panel discussions and town hall meetings and will culminate in the Women in the Financial and Banking Sector Conference to be held on November 30.
All events and activities seek to bring together industry leaders and decision makers and provide role models, guidance and inspiration to the next generation of females who are currently climbing the corporate ladder and aspiring positions of authority in the sector. - TradeArabia News Service
