Trust Re appoints new chief operating officer

MANAMA, January 19, 2015

Bahrain-based reinsurance firm Trust Re has appointed Kamal Tabaja as its chief operating officer with retrospective effect from December last year.

The announcement follows approval by the Central Bank of Bahrain, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

With this, Tabaja is now formally part of Trust Re's executive council which currently also comprises the chief executive, deputy chief executive officer, corporate services officer and planning and business development officer.

Tabaja, a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK, began his tenure with Trust Re in 2002 as an assistant underwriter in the treaty department.

He progressed to deputy underwriter property and engineering and then underwriter energy in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

In 2011, Tabaja was promoted to senior underwriter energy. He held this position for two years before taking on the role of senior underwriter energy and marine in February 2013 then group chief underwriting officer in November of the same year. - TradeArabia News Service
