Sameer Al Wazzan has been appointed chief executive of Bahrain National Holding (BNH) and its subsidiaries Bahrain National Insurance and Bahrain National Life Assurance effective January 1 this year.

"With Sameer we have found a strong leader with outstanding experience and a successful track record in the insurance industry," BNH chairman Farouk Almoayyed said.

"I am convinced that he can significantly contribute to the further growth of our business," he added.

Al Wazzan is an insurance industry veteran with over 32 years of experience.

This includes senior management roles such as chief executive of Al Khazna Insurance Company in the UAE, chief executive of Solidarity Group, general manager at Bahrain Kuwait Insurance Company, general manager at Unitag Group and general manager at National Insurance Company.

He was also a founder of the Bahrain Insurance Association and served as chairman of the board in 1986 and 2008.

Al Wazzan said as the leader of the firm he would seek new opportunities for growth and innovation.
