Noor boss wins CEO award

Dubai, September 22, 2010

The Group chief executive officer of Noor Investment Group and Noor Islamic Bank has been named CEO of the Year– Best Islamic Bank at this year’s CEO Middle East Awards in Dubai.

The award was given in recognition of Hussain AlQemzi’s role in the development and growth of the country’s Islamic banking and finance industry, and his ability to sustain the corporate agenda of Noor Islamic Bank, despite the tough financial challenges posed by the global financial crisis, a statement said.

The panel of judges also praised AlQemzi’s focus on solid corporate governance policies, sound risk management and internal control strategies.

Since the launch of the Noor brand in early 2007, AlQemzi, a veteran of the UAE’s Islamic finance sector, has undertaken a number of internal and external initiatives to help shape local and regional industry perspectives and relations.

“It is an honour to receive this award from CEO Middle East,” AlQemzi said. “The award also reflects the skills and expertise of Noor’s employees, and our continued strength in the contemporary Islamic banking arena.”

A seasoned banker with over 26 years of extensive experience, AlQemzi has worked with the leading financial institutions and centres in the UAE. – TradeArabia News Service
