NCB books $205m for loan losses in Q3

Riyadh, October 28, 2009

National Commercial Bank (NCB), Saudi Arabia's biggest lender by assets, booked 769.7 million riyals ($205.3 million) in provisions during the third quarter alone, its financial statement showed on Wednesday.

The provision is so far the highest made by a single Saudi bank since concerns over the solvency levels of heavily indebted Saudi conglomerates Saad Group and Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi & Bros started to surface in June.

The two conglomerates are at the centre of an estimated $22 billion debt restructuring. - Reuters
