MultaQa insurance seminar on way

Doha, March 3, 2009

The third MultaQa Qatar Insurance conference (MultaQa) will discuss regulation, efficiency, technology and growth, said a statement.

The event is being organised by the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority in association with Global Reinsurance magazine and will take place from March 14 to 16 at the Sharq Village & Spa in Doha.

Zurich International Life (ZIL), a leading offshore insurance firm, is said to be one of the sponsors of the event and will be speaking at the seminar.

“The Middle East is not immune to what is going on globally, even though the IMF and World Bank has predicted 3.9 per cent regional growth,” said Graham Morrall, head of regional distribution for ZIL.

“Participating in conferences like MultaQa gives us and other leading insurance companies the chance to discuss the sector with an open mind and to take positives back into the market,” he added.

“The regions’ growing maturity, development and product appetite is aplenty for all to see and Zurich will participate in the continuing regional growth of the insurance sector.”

MultaQa was launched as a conference for the insurance and reinsurance industry with interest in the Middle East.

The main keynote address for the event will be delivered by Yousef Hussain Kamal, Minister of Finance of the State of Qatar, with an update on developments at the QFC delivered by the CEO and director general of the QFC Authority, Stuart Pearce. – TradeArabia News Service
