CLI starts Qatar operations

Doha, July 12, 2008

Cunningham Lindsey International (CLI) has started offering insurance services in Qatar.

The step is part of its strategic development of a network of offices in the Middle East, the company said. CLI has a presence in nine regional countries.

The company opened its Qatar office on July 1 after being authorised by the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority to operate from the Qatar Financial Centre.

The adjusting, surveying and engineering expertise available through CLI’s other offices in the region will support the Doha office. It is now positioned to assist in the handling of losses occurring in Qatar for local, regional and international clients.

“A very important part of our role in developing Qatar’s insurance sector is to attract firms that can contribute to the technical expertise in the local and regional market,” said QFC Authority CEO and director-general said.

“The rapid growth of the Qatari economy will produce more and more business opportunities for the insurance industry and such firms will be required to ensure that the growth is met and sustained by world-class players.”

CLI’s Qatar office will be headed by country manager Reubin Iqbal, who has more than 16 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He has in-depth knowledge of ‘Contractors All Risks’ (CAR) claims and has worked for CLI’s Construction Division in London since 2004.

He is familiar with all types of property losses, including business interruption and liability claims and was also involved in the CLI catastrophe team in Oman, deployed in the aftermath of Cyclone Gonu last year. – Trade Arabia News Service
