A hedge fund of Investcorp, a leading global asset manager specializing in alternative investments, won the 'Best Newcomer' award at Hedge Funds Review’s European Performance Awards held recently in London. 

The awards recognize leading hedge fund managers across the industry. The awards ceremony was attended by hundreds of Europe’s most talented hedge fund personnel at London’s prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel.

Investcorp Stoneworks Global Macro Fund utilizes a global macro strategy, primarily based on macroeconomic principles, to establish long and short positions in various equities, fixed income securities, currencies, and futures instruments, said a top bank official.

In November 2007, Investcorp provided Stoneworks, a global macro manager based in London, with strategic, committed capital through the firm’s Single Manager Platform.

Investcorp designed this platform in 2005 to provide clients with access to experienced managers with emerging funds in the hedge fund industry. 

Investcorp provides between $50 million and $100 million in capital to the managers, along with risk oversight and access to Investcorp’s global marketing teams. The platform currently comprises six managers across diverse investment strategies.

Ibrahim Gharghour and Deepak Gurnani, co-heads of hedge funds at Investcorp, both expressed their delight at receiving the industry recognition.
