Goldman Sachs office opens at DIFC

The new office of Goldman Sachs at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) was inaugurated today (June 10).
Dr Omar bin Sulaiman, the governor of DIFC, presided over the ceremony and welcomed Lloyd C Blankfein, chairman of the Board of Directors of Goldman Sachs, to the centre.
This visit also coincides with the meeting of the Board of Directors of Goldman Sachs at the firm’s DIFC office, which was first set up in August 2006.
Founded in 1869, Goldman Sachs is a global securities, investment banking and asset management firm. It provides a wide range of services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, institutional investors, governments, non-profit organisations and individuals. It is headquartered in New York and maintains significant offices in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong and other financial centres around the world.
The DIFC governor said: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Lloyd C Blankfein and the global leadership of Goldman Sachs back to the DIFC. His long and illustrious career in banking and finance, spanning over two and a half decades, has elevated him to his current leadership role at The Goldman Sachs Group. It is a great pleasure to welcome him and his fellow board members to the DIFC, the region’s leading international financial centre and home to some of the top financial institutions from across the world.”
