Festival boon for Bahrain’s luxury hotels

Manama, August 4, 2014

Eid festivities and the annual Bahrain Summer festival have proved a major boon for luxury hotels.

Five-star hotels reported 91.6 per cent occupancy rate on Wednesday (July 30) and Thursday, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The rate of occupancy at four-star hotels also hit 97.1 per cent over the same period, the Culture Ministry announced yesterday.

The influx of citizens and expatriates have played a crucial role in revitalising Bahrain's tourism sector, it added.

GCC nationals flocked to Bahrain, attracted by the fun-filled Eid activities and summer shows which turned the kingdom into a tourism destination.

The ministry had signed agreements with dozens of five-and four-star hotels to launch special promotions for residents.
The ministry also lined up cultural and artistic programmes, including Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred, who staged two musical shows at the cultural auditorium on the second and third days of Eid.

The sixth edition of the annual Bahrain Summer Festival was also launched last Thursday under the theme 'Summer of Colours'. - TradeArabia News Service
