Focus on Iraq oil sector challenges

Dubai, June 30, 2013

Major stakeholders and key decision makers will meet to discuss the challenges faced in oilfield production in Iraq at a conference to be held in Dubai from September 30.

The Iraq Mega Projects Conference and Exhibition, organised by the CWC group and supported by the Iraqi government, will run till October 3 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum.

Solutions and best practice case studies will also be shared by representatives across the industry value chain to ensure that operators work with greater efficiency and meet contractual obligations, as Iraq plans to increase oil production by 30 per cent in the next 18 months in a bid to achieve 157 per cent output of the current rates by 2020, said a statement.

Key topics of the conference also include the logistical challenges of passing goods through the port of Basra, and distributing supplies by air and road to remote areas, corporate social responsibility and local content implementation to develop and utilise in-country value, it said.

Over 100 companies will showcase their products and services at the exhibition, accompanying the conference and ancillary events, the statement added. - TradeArabia News Service
