Alba Q1 sales figures up 3.1pc

Manama, April 9, 2014

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) recorded a 3.1 per cent year-on-year increase in sales figures, which rose to 226,472 tonnes during the first quarter.

The production figures were up by 2.1 per cent YOY to reach 232,298 tonnes ahead of the company’s own forecast for the period, said a statement.

The company also closed the first quarter with an average of 66 per cent in value-added sales on the back of sound demand of value-added products, it said.

Tim Murray, CEO, said: “The underlying physical demand and premiums remains very strong.  Alba was able to deliver on its marketing strategy as a way to contribute to the bottom line despite the lower LME prices.”

Alba will release its first quarter financial results to the public on May 8 and upload the IR presentation on its investor relation section, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
