Manama, March 4, 2013

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has announced its sponsorship of the inaugural Bahrain International Corporate Social Responsibility Conference and Exhibition 2013, being held at the Gulf Convention Centre, Gulf Hotel till March 6.

The event is organised under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs.

The event will provide a platform for interacting with key players in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in Bahrain, discuss some of the latest global trends on the subject, and provide opportunities to look at community projects that require support from individuals and organisations, a statement from the company said.

Alba’s stand at the exhibition being held in parallel to the conference will showcase the various CSR projects that the company is involved in as well as highlight the key motivations undergirding the company’s initiatives.

Basem Al Sharqi, chief support functions officer, Alba, said: “We at Alba recognise that success is not only about improving the bottom line but also about the impact the company leaves on the larger community. It is highly encouraging to see issues related to CSR being discussed at such a large forum, and we are proud to give our support to it.”

Alba’s CSR activities are mostly spearheaded by the Alba Community Service Committee and also include sponsorships and donations. The committee plays a key role in encouraging the spirit of philanthropy amongst Alba employees while enhancing Kingdom-wide appreciation of its initiatives, the statement said.
