KEC lands order for 400kV transmission lines in Oman

KEC International, a global infrastructure engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) major, has secured an order for a 400kV transmission line project in Oman as part of its new orders worth Rs106 billion ($1.1 billion) across its Transmission & Distribution (T&D), civil and cables and conductors businesses.

A unit of RPG Enterprises, one of India's fastest-growing business groups with a turnover of $5.2 billion, KEC International has a footprint in 110+ countries and is involved in the verticals of power transmission and distribution, civil, transportation, renewables, oil and gas pipelines and cables.

This come close on the heels of its big order win in June from Saudi Arabia for the design, supply and installation of 380kV overhead transmission lines. Also, its T&D business secured orders for supply of towers, hardware and poles in the Americas along with cable work projects in India and overseas.

These orders come under KEC International’s T&D business and further expands the company’s order book in the Middle East, reflecting continued investment in the region’s power transmission and distribution infrastructure, said a statement from the company.

Its latest contract wins include a repeat order for the construction of a multispeciality hospital for a leading healthcare player in Eastern India, and various cables and conductors orders in India and overseas markets.

Commenting on the order wins, Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and CEO of KEC International, said the Oman project would further diversify the company’s Middle East order book.

He also highlighted the growth of the company’s civil business in the hospital construction segment.-TradeArabia News Service
