The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Emirates Automobile and Touring Club and “Amer,” has launched an instant International Driving Permit (IDP) issuance service at a Customer Happiness Centre in the arrivals area of Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport.
Available to UAE citizens and residents with valid UAE
driving licences, the service aims to simplify pre-travel procedures and
provide travellers with faster access to essential documentation.
The IDP can be issued in no more than five minutes through
an integrated digital system connecting the participating entities.
The service operates 24/7.
Applicants are required to present their Emirates ID, valid
UAE driving licence, passport copy and personal photograph.
Their information is then automatically verified, allowing
requests to be processed and approved instantly.

Director-General for Entry Permits and Residency, said the initiative reflects
Dubai’s focus on proactive, customer-centred government services.
“At GDRFA Dubai, we are keen to ensure that the customer
journey is an integral part of the smart travel ecosystem, through proactive
services delivered at the right place and time. The launch of the International
Driving Permit service at Dubai International Airport embodies effective
government integration and reflects Dubai’s readiness to provide flexible
solutions that make travel easier and strengthen confidence in the overall
services system.”
Al Ghaith said the initiative further supports Dubai’s
position as a global city focused on quality of life and efficient public
services, while demonstrating government entities’ commitment to creating
seamless travel experiences.
Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of the Licensing Agency at RTA, described
the service as an advanced example of cooperation between strategic partners.
He said its availability at a major travel hub enhances customer experience by
providing an instant service around the clock.
The airport-based service forms part of wider efforts by
Dubai and the UAE to expand integrated digital government services and deliver
solutions at locations where they are most needed.
The initiative is intended to make travel preparation more
convenient while strengthening the overall customer experience and confidence
