Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMISIU) has advanced in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026.

It secured a position in the 101–200 global range for UN Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure," up from the 401–600 range in the 2025 rankings, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said.

The achievement reflects the university's global standing in scientific research, innovation, and technological development. It also highlights its efforts to build an innovation-supportive ecosystem and align research outputs with developmental and economic needs, transforming knowledge and innovations into sustainable value and impact.

Intense global competition

The result is particularly significant given the intense global competition in the rankings, which included 826 universities from 94 countries and territories. It reinforces the university's presence in global impact indicators related to innovation and sustainable development, the report said.

The progress underscores the university's continued commitment to its role as an academic institution that generates knowledge and innovation while enhancing its contributions to research, technology, and development in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.—TradeArabia News Service
