Egyptian Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly and Mohammed Al Dhanhani, Director of the Fujairah Emiri Diwan, discussed steps to complete the implementation of the Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas project, following the establishment of the joint company.

The meeting, held at the Egyptian government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, focused on accelerating procedures for the project and establishing a private free zone in New Alamein dedicated to the storage and trading of petroleum products and crude oil.

Madbouly welcomed the Fujairah delegation and highlighted the attention given by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the strategic project, whose agreement was recently signed.

He said the establishment of Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas and the convening of its founding general assembly at El-Hamra Petroleum Port reflect the longstanding strategic relations between Egypt and the UAE.

The prime minister stressed the project's importance to the energy sector and called for intensified cooperation to establish the private free zone and move the venture into operations as quickly as possible.

For his part, Al Dhanhani thanked the Egyptian government for its efforts, particularly the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, in supporting the company's establishment.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, to expanding cooperation with Egypt and accelerating implementation.

The project is designed to strengthen Egypt's role as a regional hub for energy trading while developing El-Hamra Petroleum Port through cooperation with the Fujairah Oil and Gas Corporation.

The partnership will involve the transfer of expertise and adoption of advanced systems and technologies to improve the port's efficiency and bring its operations in line with international standards.

A key component will be the storage of crude oil at El-Hamra Petroleum Port's facilities in New Alamein.

The initiative is expected to maximise economic returns from Egypt's existing infrastructure while leveraging the port's strategic location and facilities to establish it as an important hub for crude oil storage and transportation.

Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi underscored the project's significance and the strong government backing from both Egypt and the UAE.

He said the initiative aims to establish a successful model on Egypt's Mediterranean coast based on the experience currently operating in Fujairah.

Badawi said completing the project is a government priority, with joint teams working continuously to finalise procedures and establish a detailed timetable for the implementation phases.

He also stressed the ministry's commitment to providing full support and addressing any challenges that could delay progress.

The meeting was attended by senior Egyptian and Fujairah officials, including Salah Abdel Kerim, Chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation; Dr. Mohammed Al Bagouri, Head of the Central Department for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Petroleum; Ahmed Adel Attia, Legal Adviser to the Government of Fujairah; Hani Abdel Moneim, CEO of the Fujairah Oil and Gas Corporation; Ibrahim Massoud, Chairman of the Western Desert Operating Petroleum Company and Chairman of Fujairah Alamein; Yasser Assem, Chairman of Pavilion Engineering Consultancy; and Abdullah Al Dhanhani, Board Member of Fujairah Alamein Oil and Gas.

Madbouly concluded by affirming that he would regularly follow up on the project's implementation to ensure its timely completion and help establish it as another success story modelled on Fujairah's existing energy infrastructure. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
