Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are strengthening economic and logistical integration through a digital customs data exchange system and expanded co-operation on railway development, aimed at improving cross-border trade and transport links.

The land customs linkage enables the secure exchange of customs data directly from the exporting country, allowing clearance procedures to begin before shipments reach the Al Khafji and Al Ruqai border crossings, reported SPA.

The system, developed using standardised data models and integrated testing, is expected to reduce duplicate data entry, shorten customs clearance times and enhance risk management, facilitating truck movements and supporting rising trade volumes between the two countries.

Separately, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are stepping up cooperation on railway development under the Saudi-Kuwaiti Coordination Council by exchanging technical expertise to support the development of rail and metro networks, stated the report.

Saudi Arabia's Transport General Authority has shared its railway regulatory framework with Kuwait as part of the initiative. Authorities said three of the five key milestones have been completed, with the project on track for completion by year-end.
