Drone activity disrupts flights at Dubai airport

Flights arriving at Dubai International Airport were disrupted for about 15 minutes after midday on September 22 due to suspected drone activity.

The airport was closed from 12.36hrs to 12.51hrs (local time), resulting in two flights being diverted, a spokesman for Emirates airline confirmed.

Flight EK 433 from Brisbane and Singapore to Dubai International Airport was diverted to Dubai World Central and flight EK 511 from Delhi to Dubai International Airport was diverted to Sharjah International Airport.

The drone activity took place despite repeated warnings by concerned authorities that such individual actions are serious violations of regulations that seek to prevent unauthorised aerial activity in the vicinity of airports.

Emirates also noted that it assisted affected passengers with alternative booking options and hotel accommodation. - TradeArabia News Service
