The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has called on registered air operators within the emirates to evaluate flight paths affected by recent airspace restrictions in the region owing to the ongoing US-Iran tensions.

 

In a statement, the GCAA said that given current regional developments and as a precautionary measure, UAE-registered air operators need to avoid operating in areas that could jeopardise civil aviation safety and operations.

 

Already Dubai carrier Emirates Airline had declared yesterday (June 21) that in light of the current situation, it had taken all precautionary measures including rerouting all flights away from areas of possible conflict.

 

This move was triggered by an emergency order issued by US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Thursday prohibiting US air carriers from flying in Iran-controlled airspace over the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman due to heightened tensions.-TradeArabia News Service
