Swissôtel Al Ghurair partners with SOS

DUBAI, October 21, 2019

Swissôtel Al Ghurair has announced a partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, an international non-profit organisation, in the Gulf by launching an initiative inviting guests to join them in achieving their promise.

By curating a range of special offers, proceeds of this fundraising drive under Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) permit umber 2593 will be going support the needs of children in SOS Children’s Villages in Mena.

Launching in October, guests can avail “A worthwhile stay” special bed and breakfast rate offer including a $10 of every booking going towards the organisation.

In Yasmine Lounge, the hotels relaxed outlet for light bites, guests can enjoy a drink and a pastry for Dh18 ($4.9) with Dh5 being donation to the charity, plus with the Kids Eat Free campaign, all children under 12 years of age will dine for free at the hotels Liwan restaurant with a minimum donation of Dh15 per meal. Every donation will go a long way to helping another child get the education, support and security they need to grow up healthy and strong.

“At Swissôtel Al Ghurair we’re committed to raising awareness about the importance of reaching out to children in need so they can grow up with trust, care and support,” said Dominic Arel, general manager.

“Celebrating this milestone of 20 years where our guests can also contribute is very important to us. We’re a community hotel and every little bit counts so we encourage guests and international travellers to join this incredible journey and help children live life well.”

“Strategic partnerships are essential to ensure the sustainable growth for our resources and the continuity of our work, enabling us to care for more children and youth in need. We are thrilled to start a new regional partnership for the sake of children in the Mena region. With every partner, we grow to help more children regionally and around the world,” said Jumana Abu Hannoud, managing director for SOS Children’s Villages International Gulf Area Office.

Globally each Swissôtel property will be making a difference and a little amount goes a long way. A donation of $1 provides two healthy meals for a child; a $5 donation provides a meal for a whole family and a $10 donation can provide an SOS scholar with a school bag.

Studies have shown that the work of SOS Children’s Villages has a profound impact on children immediately and in future generations. Ninety percent of children who grew up in SOS Children’s Villages are doing well with adequate accommodation, food security and health.

Eighty percent are experiencing social and emotional well-being and feeling safe from discrimination and other harm. Among SOS participants who have later become parents, 90% have broken the cycle of separation and abandonment. Many former SOS participants have gone on to secure jobs at Swissôtel properties around the world. - TradeArabia News Service
