RAK visitor numbers jump 10.9pc

RAS AL KHAIMAH, April 17, 2017

Ras Al Khaimah, the fourth largest emirate in the UAE, welcomed 820,772 travellers in 2016, a significant increase of 10.9 per cent over visitor numbers in 2015, new data has revealed.

According to a report released by Colliers International, the emirate also witnessed an increase in guest length of stay, from 3.19 days in 2015 to 3.32 days in 2016.

UK and India remained the emirate's top source market, recording an increase of 35 per cent and 28 per cent in visitors numbers respectively.

Overall, in the past year hotel RevPAR increased by 5.5 per cent due to a 9.8 per cent increase in occupancy across the emirate, despite a drop in ADR.

As the emirate continues with expansion plans, several initiatives have been announced which are expected to further raise the tourism profile of the area. - TradeArabia News Service
