Ajman tourism revenues hit $81m

BERLIN, March 6, 2015

Tourism revenues in the UAE emirate of Ajman reached Dh300 million ($81.6 million) last year, as compared to Dh220 million ($59.8 million) in 2013, according to recent statistics.

The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) statistics, on the sidelines of the ongoing ITB Berlin 2015, revealed that the average room rates in the emirate was Dh275 for one night.

Ajman tourism revenues reached nearly Dh300 million in 2014, compared to Dh220 million in 2013, Dalal Al Marzouqi, ATDD Research and Development Executive, said, noting that average room rates in Ajman was Dh275 for one night.  .

The number of hotel and hotel apartments’ guests in 2014 increased to 850,000, compared to about 600,000 in the previous year, said Dalal Al Marzouqi, ATDD research and development executive.

The average hotel occupancy rates reached 65 per cent, she said.

The four-star hotels came first before five-star ones on the list of occupancy by guest numbers, while the list of occupancy classification by nationality was topped by Russia, followed by CIS market, UAE nationals and residents, Arab countries, GCC countries, Asia and Europe, said Al Marzouqi.

The number of hotel establishments in Ajman reached 31 last year, from 29 in the previous year, while the total number of room and units added was 2992, she added.-TradeArabia News Service
