Rotana to manage second hotel in Iraq

Dubai, December 14, 2008

Abu Dhabi-based Rotana Hotels said on Sunday it won a contract to manage a five-star hotel in Baghdad's high security Green Zone, its second contract in the war-torn country.

Rotana signed an agreement with Summit Hotels Limited to manage the hotel, which is due to open in 2012, a statement from Rotana said.

Last year, Rotana said it signed a contract to run a five-star property in Erbil in Iraq's Kurdistan region.  Rotana currently manages 28 hotels across the Middle East and plans rapid expansion.

'In 2009 we will add 12 new hotels to our portfolio and from 2010 you will see at least 10 to 12 openings every year,' Selim El Zyr, CEO of Rotana, told Reuters.

'By the end of 2012, we will be managing not less than 70 hotels in the Middle East and North Africa region,' he said.-Reuters
