Clean Energy Business Council names new board members
DUBAI, November 17, 2021
Clean Energy Business Council (CEBC) has announced its board of directors for 2021-2023 period with three new members including a financial industry expert.
CEBC is a non-profit, non governmental association that brings together leading local and international organizations involved in the clean energy sector across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) from both the private and public spheres. It is the only clean energy industry group to cover the region.
The three new members include:
•Alfons Juan, Director of Renewable Development at Acwa Power
•Lina Osman, Regional Head of Sustainable Finance for AMEA at Standard Chartered Bank
•Mustapha Aanzi, General Manager for Energy Efficiency GCC at Johnson Controls
The trio brings a wealth of experiences in sustainable finance, energy efficiency and renewable energy development which would add great value to the CEBC activities and its members, said the council in a statement.
CEBC pointed out that it has a very important role to play especially over the next two years as Egypt and the UAE will be hosting COP27 and COP28 respectively.
This add a lot of responsibility on the CEBC to support the governments in the region to establish initiatives and partnerships with the private sector to show leadership and progress in the climate change agenda, it added.
These new members will be joining the current board of directors comprising top clean energy experts from across the Mena region under the chairmanship of Dr Nasser Saidi, Founder and President at Nasser Saidi & Associates and Vice Chair Mhairi Main Garcia, Partner at Dentons. Its other members include:
•Alia Busamra, Chief Sustainability Officer at Enoc
•Leandro Bento, Chief Technology Officer at Yellow Door Energy
•Mohammed Ayoub, Regional Growth Leader at GE
•Rachid Hamida, Director – Performance & Technology at ENOVA
•Stephan Gobert, Chief Strategy, Innovation at ENGIE
Welcoming the new members, Dr Saidi said: "The board of the CEBC is representative of our membership, reflects diversity as well as experience and professionalism. I look forward to the active participation of our new members on the board, the working groups and the variety of activities the Council undertakes to promote clean energy and cleantech across the Mena region."
Garcia pointed out that each of these new members brings a wealth of experience and greatly enhances CEBC's ability to reach its goal of facilitating the deployment of clean energy throughout Mena.
"This will help strengthen CEBC's commitments particularly in relation to energy efficiency, climate and clean energy finance and women in clean energy. I am looking forward to working together with each of them at this important and critical time," she added.-TradeArabia News Service
