Tunisia, IDB sign funding for $200m power plant

Tunisia and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) have signed an agreement to fund the gas turbine power plant in Mornaguia with a budget of $200 million, a report said.

The project with a cost of $309 million to be granted to the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) involves the installation of a 600-megawatt gas turbine plant in Mornaguia, reported Agence Tunis Afrique Presse.

The project includes the establishment of two gas turbine units with a production capacity of nearly 300 MW each, it added.

STEG is aiming to produce 400 to 600 MW every two years, Minister of Energy and Mines Mongi Marzouk was quoted as saying.
