by Doosan, Sepco III
Doosan, Sepco III win Salalah 2 power plant contract
MUSCAT, November 10, 2015
Seoul-based Doosan and Shandong Electric Power Construction Corp (Sepco III) have signed a contract to deliver 90MW-class steam turbines and generators for the Salalah 2 Independent Power Plant (IPP) project in Oman.
Sepco III is a global engineering corporation that specialises in the construction of various types of power plants, including thermal, nuclear, gas, hydro, wind, transformer substation, biomass, photovoltaic, solar energy and sea water desalination.
Banking on its proven expertise in turbine manufacturing and production capacity and close partnership with Sepco III, Doosan beat leading players including Siemens and Alstom and successfully won its first project with China to supply power equipment, said a statement from the company.
Sohyung Kim, vice president in charge of turbine/generator sales and marketing at Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, said: “Through the acquisition of the new order, we proved the excellence of Doosan’s turbine and generator products to Chinese engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) companies.”
“The project has served as a great opportunity to expand the pool of our customers, and Doosan expects to collaborate further with Chinese companies to accelerate growth in the turbine/generator business,” Kim added.
To date, Doosan has supplied 594 units (about 115 GW) of turbines and generators for projects worldwide. The company is set to accelerate its advance in diverse power markets with its advanced integrated solutions and serve its customers across the globe, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
